Our Programs

Three programs, one promise: a safe place to learn, play, and be counted.

After-School Hoops

Our flagship program runs twice weekly at four partner gyms across North and Northeast Minneapolis. Each session is two hours: the first hour is a supervised homework and tutoring block, the second is skills-focused basketball practice. Enrollment is free and includes equipment, snacks, and bus tokens.

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30–5:30 PM, September through May.
Ages: 10–16.
Cost: Free (registration required).

The Jackson Scholarship

Each spring we award $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Hennepin County who have completed at least one full season in a foundation program. Preference is given to first-generation college students. Applications open March 1 and close May 1; awards are announced in early June.

Since 2015, 186 students have received the scholarship. Recipients have enrolled at 31 different colleges and universities, and 78% remain enrolled or have graduated — a number we publish every year, good or bad.

Digital Access Project

Launched in 2020, this program provides refurbished laptops and one year of prepaid home internet to families with school-age children who lack reliable access. Devices are sourced from corporate donors, wiped and refurbished by our partners, and delivered with drop-in tech support at three Hennepin County Library branches.

To date the program has placed 640 devices with families across the city.

Community Grants

Each fall we accept small-grant applications (up to $5,000) from local coaches, tutors, and neighborhood nonprofits. Grants fund uniforms, gym time, transportation, and tutoring materials. Decisions are made by our board within four weeks of the deadline.
